Fasting & cleansing · Sunshine Coast
Fasting, cleansing and a genuine reset.
Never automatic, never a protocol. If it interests you, say so when you enquire and we’ll talk about whether it suits you.
Fasting is something you ask about, not something you arrive to.

Fasting is not automatically part of a retreat at Beach Health Retreat. If it is something you are interested in, tell us when enquiring so suitability and the appropriate approach can be discussed. Nobody is put on a fast, nobody is nudged towards one, and no part of any retreat depends on you eating less.
When guests do raise it, the conversation comes first. Ian’s background brings together Ayurveda and natural living, and a lighter approach to food sits comfortably inside a personalised retreat plan — but only where it genuinely suits the person, and only where it is wanted. That judgement is made with you, before your retreat is confirmed, not after you arrive.
If a lighter cleanse interests you rather than fasting itself, that is an easier conversation again: simpler meals, fewer of them, or food chosen to feel light. How food works here explains the ordinary arrangements this would sit inside.
What people usually mean by a “detox retreat”.
Some people search for a “detox retreat” when what they are really looking for is time away, simpler food, rest and a reset from everyday habits. Beach Health Retreat approaches this as personalised wellbeing rather than medical detoxification.
So it is worth being plain about the difference. Nothing here removes toxins, treats a condition, cleanses an organ or produces a measurable physiological result. Nothing is prescribed and nothing is sold as a cleanse. What a reset-style stay actually offers is more ordinary and, for most people, more useful: a break in routine, food you have chosen deliberately, unhurried sleep, time outdoors and someone to think it through with.
If you are under medical care, or taking prescribed medication, keep it in place and talk to your doctor before changing how you eat. A retreat sits alongside that care, never in place of it.
What a reset-style retreat actually involves.
No protocol, no programme to complete. These are the parts guests most often mean when they say they want to reset.
- A break from the routines that made you want time away in the first place
- Food chosen deliberately: lighter, simpler, or personalised to how you want to eat
- Unhurried sleep, with no group timetable to keep up with
- Time on the coast, in the water and outdoors
- Restorative massage and non-invasive bodywork with Deb or Ian
- A hosted sauna setup in the shared Sundeck Gardens sauna
- A personalised routine you can carry home, if that is what you want from it
What’s included depends on the retreat you choose and your length of stay, and is set out in your retreat plan, with the price, before you book.

Lighter food, without a rulebook
Simpler meals are easy to arrange.
Main meals are prepared by local food providers or you self-cater in your apartment’s full kitchen. Either way, lighter and simpler meals are straightforward to ask for — as is vegetarian or plant-focused food, which many guests choose for the same reason.
Where this fits among the retreats.
Fasting and cleansing interests aren’t a retreat of their own. They sit inside whichever retreat suits you.
- Holistic & Alternative Retreat: the most natural home for it. Food is personalised to your Ayurvedic constitution, wellbeing goals and preferences, and a lighter approach can be part of that conversation. How food and fasting interests are handled.
- Private Personalised Beach Retreat: if what you actually want is rest, simpler food and time on the coast rather than fasting as such.
- Counselling & Personal Reset Retreat: if the reset you’re after is as much about what you’re carrying as about what you eat.
Stays are two, three, five or seven nights. Compare the lengths, or see how the retreats work.
A few things you may be wondering.
Is fasting included in a retreat?
No. Fasting is never automatically part of a stay. It happens only if you ask about it and it is found to suit you, and it is agreed in your retreat plan before you arrive.
Is fasting compulsory?
No, and it never has been. You can come here and eat three main meals a day. Nobody is asked to fast, and choosing not to changes nothing else about your retreat.
Can I ask about fasting as part of my retreat?
Yes. Mention it in your enquiry and we will talk it through with you. Suitability is considered before anything is recommended, and what is agreed goes into your retreat plan.
Is this a medical detox?
No. Beach Health Retreat is a non-clinical wellbeing retreat. Nothing here diagnoses or treats a condition, removes toxins or replaces medical care, and nothing is prescribed. If you are under medical care, please keep it in place.
What does a reset-style retreat involve?
Time away from your usual routines, food you have chosen deliberately, rest and sleep, time on the coast, and optional bodywork or conversation. It is shaped around you rather than run to a programme.
Will I be told to stop taking my medication?
No, and you should not stop prescribed medication because of anything you read here. Any change to medication is a matter for you and your doctor.
Can I do a cleanse instead of a full fast?
A lighter approach to food is usually the easier conversation, and more guests choose it. Tell us what you have in mind when you enquire.
What does it cost?
It depends on the retreat you choose, its length and your food choice, and it is set out in your retreat plan before anything is booked.
