Movement & fitness · Sunshine Coast

Move as much, or as little, as you like.

The beach is across the road and the coastal path runs for kilometres. Anything more structured is arranged for you.

Most of the movement here costs nothing and isn’t booked.

Beach Health Retreat isn’t a fitness retreat, and there is no gym at the resort. What there is happens to be the reason many guests come: Maroochydore Beach and the beachside park directly across Alexandra Parade, a coastal path you can walk for as long as you want, ocean swimming, and two heated pools in the shared gardens.

Nothing about that is timetabled. Some guests walk at sunrise every morning; others don’t leave the balcony. Both are a legitimate way to spend a retreat, and neither is treated as the right answer.

Where we are describes the beach, the path and the walk into Cotton Tree; the accommodation page covers the shared pools, spa and sauna.

Arranged for you

Yoga, Pilates and personal training.

Once your retreat plan is created you can add private yoga — including restorative or Yin — Pilates, or personal training. These are arranged with local practitioners, not delivered by Deb or Ian, and they are paid extras rather than part of the retreat: each has an additional cost, subject to availability, and is confirmed with its price before you book.

There is no salon or gym at the resort, and there are no classes running on a timetable for you to join. Sessions are private and arranged around your stay.

What’s simply there, at no extra cost.

Part of being here rather than something to book. Bodywork and the sauna are part of your retreat plan.

Private yoga, Pilates, personal training and beauty treatments are optional paid extras with outside providers, subject to availability. The pools, spa and sauna are shared resort facilities.

Gentle by default, and never a programme.

Most guests arrive tired, so the movement that suits them is gentle: a walk, a swim, a stretch in the morning. That is the assumption this place is built on. If you want something more demanding, personal training can be arranged — but it is added because you asked, not because a retreat is supposed to include it.

No fitness assessment is carried out, no training programme is written, and no result is promised. Deb and Ian are not fitness instructors, and any specialist movement is delivered by the practitioner it is arranged with.

A few things you may be wondering.

Is there a gym at the resort?

No. There is no gym and no salon at the resort. There are two heated pools, a spa and a sauna in the shared gardens, and the beach and coastal path are across the road.

Can yoga, Pilates or personal training be arranged?

Yes. Private yoga, including restorative or Yin yoga, Pilates and personal training can be arranged with local practitioners once your retreat plan is created. Each is a paid extra at additional cost, subject to availability.

Are fitness activities included in a retreat?

No. Walking, swimming and the shared pools are simply there at no extra cost, and bodywork is part of your retreat plan. Yoga, Pilates and personal training are optional extras you choose and pay for separately.

Do Deb or Ian teach yoga or Pilates?

No. Deb’s background includes yoga and meditation, but private yoga, Pilates and personal training are arranged with outside practitioners rather than delivered by Deb or Ian.

Can I just walk and swim?

Yes, and many guests do exactly that. Nothing needs to be booked and nothing is expected of you.

Are there group classes to join?

No. Everything arranged here is private, for one guest or one couple. There is no class timetable.

Can movement be left out completely?

Yes. A retreat spent resting is a normal choice here, not a lesser one.
